<H Shrs>HSI Ends up 61 Pts, Led by SMIC and JD-SW; CHINA VANKE Narrows Decline

The HSI concluded the day up 61 points or 0.3% at 19,584. The HSCEI rose 10 points or 0.1% to close at 7,108. The HSTECH climbed 61 points or 1.4%, closing at 4,479. The total market turnover for the day was $122.272 billion.

Semis were overwhelmingly traded. SMIC (00981.HK) advanced 9.6% to $39.45, on a turnover of over $9.2 billion, hitting an intraday peak of $39.95. HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) grew 4.9%. Semis equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) hiked 3.2%. JD-SW (09618.HK) introduced a gifting function, shoring up its share price by 4.7%. WEIMOB INC (02013.HK), a company with the WeChat Mini Shop concept, was hyped up by 8.1%.

Among other tech stocks, BABA-W (09988.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) inched up 0.4% and 0.1%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) swelled 1.7%, while TENCENT (00700.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) edged down 0.6-0.7%. NTES-S (09999.HK) retreated 2%.

Chinese media reported that CHINA VANKE (02202.HK) might face a takeover and restructuring, yet the company stated that it would make every effort to address the repayments of related debts due within the year. CHINA VANKE once slumped 9%, eventually closing down 3.1% for the day.

As for other Chinese developers, SUNAC (01918.HK) dropped 3.1%. YUEXIU PROPERTY (00123.HK), GREENTOWN CHINA (03900.HK), LONGFOR GROUP (00960.HK), SEAZEN (01030.HK), and CHINA RES LAND (01109.HK) leaped over 2%.

Chinese banks CM BANK (03968.HK), CCB (00939.HK), ICBC (01398.HK), and ABC (01288.HK) lost 1.4-1.6%.
