According to data from the International Air Transport Association, air freight demand from Asia to North America fell by 10.7% YoY in May, Reuters reported. Analysts attributed this to the impact of the US canceling the tariff exemption policy for low-value parcels from China. The report also cited air freight consultant Aevean estimating that low-value e-commerce shipments from China to the US sank by 43% MoM in May, while shipments to other major export markets in Europe and Southeast Asia increased. Aevean stressed that it was still unclear whether the nosedive has continued as the US subsequently lowered tariffs on related parcels from China. AAStocks Financial News |
