Oil Prices Skyrocket amid Iran Crisis; CNOOC Up 5%+

The US military killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and in retaliation, Iran struck back at Middle Eastern countries and closed the Strait of Hormuz. Spurred by the news, international oil prices surged by over 10% this morning (2nd). Brent oil futures for May delivery and New York oil futures for April delivery both jumped up by more than 5% in their latest prints.

In Hong Kong, the three Chinese oils elevated against the market trend this morning. CNOOC (00883.HK) opened 5.06% higher today, reaching a peak of HKD26.78. It last stood at HKD26.62, up 5.13%, with a trading volume of 52.988 million shares, involving HKD1.412 billion. SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) peaked at HKD5.66 and last posted at HKD5.61, up 2.94%. PETROCHINA (00857.HK) reached a peak of HKD10.1 and was last at HKD9.94, up 4.19%, with a trading volume of 69.2119 million shares, involving HKD675 million.
