Iran Denies Talks with US; Iranian Parliament Speaker Accuses US of Rigging Financial/ Oil Markets

Iran denied engaging in negotiations with the US, following US President Donald Trump's statement that the US and Iran held talks to halt attacks on Iran's power plants and energy infrastructure. Reuters cited European officials as saying that although the two countries have not yet conducted direct negotiations, Egypt, Pakistan, and Gulf countries are assisting in message transmission, with direct talks to end the conflict possibly taking place as early as this week in Islamabad. The Iranian negotiator was Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, sources divulged. However, Ghalibaf said that this is fake news, asserting that he has never engaged in such talks with the US, and believed the US claim is merely an attempt to manipulate financial and oil markets. The Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it will launch new attacks on US targets, viewing Trump's remarks as psychological warfare.
